6 Saskatchewan destinations perfect for a fall day trip

As the trees start to change colour and the weather turns cooler, it’s clear that fall is in the air. The change of season also brings new activities to experience and enjoy, including all things pumpkins, corn mazes and more. This year, check out these six Saskatchewan destinations that are perfect for your next fall day trip.

Happy Hollow Corn Maze

Lumsden

Happy Hollow Corn Maze is just a 20-minute drive from Regina, near the town of Lumsden. It has over 15 attractions, including a popular corn maze, cow train, wagon rides, hayrides, magic shows, live music, farm animals and more. Plus, its location means that you’ll have endless views of the stunning Qu’Appelle Valley in autumn, which provides the perfect photo backdrop. Happy Hollow is open on weekends only and its season runs from September 10 to October 16.

Grotto Gardens Family Fun Farm

Maple Creek

Grotto Gardens Family Fun Farm is truly a destination for family fun, offering plenty of things to see and do. Book tickets for the Pumpkin Train that will take you through fall scenery to the pumpkin patch. Check out the petting zoo, browse in the gift shop or enjoy a bite to eat in the restaurant and bakery. As a bonus, if you can’t make it this fall, Grotto Gardens offers activities into the winter, including the Haunted Farm Halloween event and Christmas at the Farm activities. Check out its website for all seasonal hours and to book event tickets in advance.

YXE Corn Maze/Thornhill Field & Social

Near Outlook

In partnership with Wolf Willow Winery/Camp Wolf Willow, YXE Corn Maze/Thornhill Field & Social is a new seasonal offering located near Outlook. The corn maze has a two-acre layout and features 20 Fun Facts hidden within its rows. If you find all 20, you win a free prize! There is also a pumpkin patch with five different varieties of pumpkins, and a sunflower, sweet corn and melon U-pick. Book corn maze tickets online and watch for other exciting fall activities and events on Facebook.

Cedar Creek Gardens

Regina

Cedar Creek Gardens, located just a 15-minute drive from Regina’s downtown, is an ideal spot to spend a day. Shop for fall décor, try a round of mini golf, or experience one of the four corn mazes that vary in difficulty and cover a total of 18 acres. Cedar Creek also offers a night maze on select weekends in October and has a food truck and drink trailer that operates on weekends, offering taco-in-a-bag, frozen lemonade and more. Cedar Creek’s fall activities run until Thanksgiving weekend (the last day of the season is Monday, October 10). You can also buy tickets online in advance for the maze, which provides admission to all four mazes.

Youth Farm Corn Maze

Rosthern

Youth Farm Corn Maze is home to not one but two corn mazes, including a “Small Stalks” maze perfect for kids, and a regular maze that covers six acres. It also offers many other seasonal activities, including a climbing wall, petting zoo, jumping pillow, wagon rides and a mega slide, which is a new feature this year. After you take in all of the attractions, head to the concession, where you’ll find burgers, poutine, ice cream and more. Youth Farm Corn Maze is open Friday to Sunday and you can also purchase tickets online in advance.

Robertson Valley Farm

Near Saskatoon

Located just a 15-minute drive from Saskatoon’s city centre, Robertson Valley Farm is home to a U-pick for sunflowers and pumpkins. It also has a number of local items for sale onsite, including seasonal vegetables, fresh bouquets, dried flowers and locally made food items like honey, pasta and ice cream. Robertson Valley Farm is open from Wednesday to Sunday. The length of its season depends on the weather, so check Facebook before you visit.
